Hello Gaia Protocol Community,
We’re excited to share two updates aimed at improving the overall user experience through service enhancements and policy adjustments.
1. Gaia Names – Expanded Unicode Support
You can now use Gaia Names to register domain names with Korean characters and other Unicode symbols. With this update, Gaia Names adopts the same naming policy as Ethereum Name Service (ENS).
- Before: Only alphabet and numeric-based naming was supported.
- Now: Korean and various Unicode characters can be used.
- Examples:
가이아.gaia,도메인🚀.gaia
This change allows not only English speakers but also Korean and other global users to freely register names that reflect their language and individuality.
2. Valhalla – Android Version Transition to PWA
Based on community feedback, the Valhalla Android app has been transitioned to PWA (Progressive Web App), following the earlier iOS rollout.
Key feedback from the native Android app included:
- Limited support for certain Web3 wallets
- Performance issues such as lagging and slow response
The wallet integration issue stems from Google Play policy restrictions, making a fix within the native app impossible. However, the PWA version overcomes these limitations, enabling seamless integration with a wider range of wallets.
Since Valhalla was originally built on web-based technologies, PWA provides faster performance and a smoother user experience than the native app.
3. How to Install (iOS & Android)
PWA allows you to add Valhalla to your home screen directly from your browser and use it like a native app.
- Open valhalla.gaia.cc in Safari (iOS) or Chrome (Android).
- Tap the Share or Menu icon.
- Select “Add to Home Screen” or “Install App.”
- Confirm the name and tap Add.
Once installed, Valhalla can be launched directly from the home screen like any other app.
If you have the existing native Valhalla app installed, please delete it and reinstall the PWA version. All future updates will be provided through PWA.
